Dr. Daniel C. Peterson is a professor emeritus of Islamic studies and Arabic at Brigham Young University. He has been deeply involved in Latter-day Saint scholarship for decades. He was formerly the chairman of the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies. He is currently the President of the Interpreter Foundation. He has helped produce multiple feature-length movies about events from Church history.
